What is a melodic minor?

Is it a child who has the ability to play a melody?  Not quite, although it could be if you sent him or her for lessons. No, a melodic minor is a type of musical scale, that uses one pattern of tones going up and a different set going down. Thus, although it is a set pattern, it is not merely the same thing backwards. I believe music should be like this, always changing depending on how it is performed. This, then, is the basis for the name of my business.
